As part of theMcLuhan Centenary events in 2011, starting in late September the Bloor/Gladstone Branch [of the Toronto Public Library] will host a three-part lecture series on the work and ideas of Marshall McLuhan presented by the distinguished Professor Donald Gillies. Dr. Gillies is Professor Emeritus of Media and Communications in the School of Image Arts, of which he was Chair, at Ryerson University and he is Adjunct Professor to the Joint York-Ryerson Graduate Program in Communication and Culture. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology and the Media Literacy Advisory Committee of OISE, both at the University of Toronto.

The three scheduled lectures are: 1. Marshall McLuhan:  The Man & His Message (Sept 19); 2. Marshall McLuhan:  Old Media & New Media (Oct 3); 3. His Legacy to Our World of Communications (Oct 17).
