DEW Line Festival   –   November 5–10, 2011   –   Toronto, Ontario, Canada

“I think of art, at its most significant, as a DEW line, a Distant Early Warning system that can always be relied on to tell the old culture what is beginning to happen to it.” –Marshall McLuhan

Marshall McLuhan – Made clear in his famous quote from Understanding Media, McLuhan was fond of framing artists as harbingers of cultural change. Using this metaphor to contextualize their work, artists throughout Toronto and around the world have come together to co-create a week of stimulating art, music, poetry and discourse that considers and probes the future of digital media and its impact on our culture and the way we live our lives.
